The mass movement of over 2 million pilgrims to the plain of Mina and later to Arafah from Makkah begins tonight  with National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON making all necessaryplan for a hitchfree transportation.

The distance from Makkah to Muna is about nine kilometers.

The Coordinator of NAHCON Committee for the movement, that is Taraddudiyyah, Dr. Aliyu Abubakar Tanko, is optimistic that the movement will be hitch free.

Tanko said it has been the practice now to start the movement of pilgrims from the wee hours of the eight day of Dhul-Hijjah, known as YAUMU TARWEEYYAH, unlike in the past when it used to start after sunrise on the said day.

The Coordinator said the earliest hour movement of the pilgrims, was to ease and avoid congestions on the roads which were the hallmark of the old movement system.

Tanko said all stakeholders in the movement to Muna, Arafah, Musdalifah, back to Muna and Makkah later, have resolved to ensure a hitch free movement, comfort, quality; timely feeding arrangement and provision of all necessary logistics for the pilgrims, during their five day stay at the Mash’ir.

He stressed that a good plan has been made by the Saudi authorities to ensure a zero, or at least minimal casualty figure, when it becomes inevitable, during the movement to and fro the symbolic stoning of the devil at the Jamrah.

He therefore enjoined pilgrims to religiously abide by the guidelines of the Saudi Jamart master plan.
